RUSSIA -- 1961 TARAS SHEVCHENKO CACHET FIRST DAY COVER Clean, unaddressed cover showing Shevchenko memorial statue. Taras Shevchenko was a Ukrainian poet, writer, artist, public and political figure. His literary heritage is regarded to be the foundation of modern Ukrainian literature and, to a large extent, the modern Ukrainian language. Shevchenko is also known for many masterpieces as a painter and an illustrator. In 1847, he was politically convicted for writing in the Ukrainian language, promoting the independence of Ukraine and ridiculing the members of the Russian Imperial House. |

We are offering for sale a wide variety of covers—from stampless covers to First Day Covers, from the very old, to contemporary. While we primarily sell covers, you will also find stamps, other postal items and interesting ephemera for sale. We hope you enjoy the site and visit often. We welcome your comments.

I am a life member of the American Philatelic Society and am a member of the Society’s estate advisory service. I am also a member and volunteer at the Cardinal Spellman Philatelic Museum in Weston, Massachusetts. In addition, I am a licensed, bonded auctioneer in Massachusetts.
