ALTAY AND WATKINS NEW YORK, PLUS SOUTH NORWALK CONNECTICUT DEAD POST OFFICE POSTMARKS ON ONE 1888 COVER It's a triple header. Cover originated in Althay NY and was addressed to South Norwalk. Enroute, it received a Watkins postmark on the flap side and then it received a South Norwalk Connecticut mark when the cover was forwarded to New York City. This is a must unusual item for dead post office cover collectors. |

Note No. 42 center left of front page. Apparently the correspondents numbered their letters so they would know if one was lost in transit. The writer also references receiving No. 47 from the addressee. Vertical mark running from middle top to bottom is the postage charge. |
