HANCOCK NEW HAMPSHIRE 1846 STAMPLESS COVER WITH RED POSTMARK, TO BRIDGEPORT CONNECTICUT - POSTAL HISTORY HANCOCK NEW HAMPSHIRE 1846 STAMPLESS LETTER WITH RED POSTMARK, TO BRIDGEPORT CONNECTICUT

Nice full circle postmark with January 21 date in red.  Powerful three-page letter from daughter to mother. Daughter is very religious and the tone is carried through the letter.  In discussing a recent death she says "He is in the relm of bliss and you and I are not far behind him. I hope we may live in such manner as to be permitted to go and dwell with our dear Christian friends that have gone before us..." She provides interesting insights: "I am sorry to hear your hearing is not improved. You are in solitude in the midst of company and a companion could not be much comforet to you, only to look at." Letter is in very good condition with no rips or tears...not even where the seal was broken.

RUTLAND VERMONT 1849 STAMPLESS FOLDED LEGAL LETTER TO WEST POULTNEY VERMONT

Lengthy and very interesting lawyer letter containing transcripts of four court events involving William P. Noyes, of Rutland and his claim against the estate of John Shumway, late of South Poultney. James Wenchel, South Poultney administrator, "ought not to have or maintain in such capacity his aforesaid action thereof against him because he says that the said William P. Noyes was not guilty of the several supposed trespasses and convessions (sic) in the said declaration mentioned".  Apparently Noyes appropriated some land that was part of the Shumway estate. The letter is addressed to J. B. Beamon, who is the attorney for Wenchel. Other names mentioned include: G. Hanes, Ralph Taylor and Edgerton. Missive is dated April 4, 1849. Excellent historical item.

boston-massachusetts-1848-stampless-folded-letter-tennant-parties-with-girls BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS 1848 STAMPLESS FOLDED LETTER - PROBLEM WITH UPSTAIRS TENNANT PARTYING WITH GIRLS

Letter is from a Boston property owner to a friend in Danville, New York, first complimenting him on his shooting ability: "You shoot well--a good gun no doubt--give it to some of the grey squirrels in the woods".  He goes on to rave about Bob Bowa -- that crassy mouthed, drunken fellow abovestairs, 2 parties, 6 girls. The fellow would not clean.  Cousin G. tried to clean him out but the devil said Silverman engaged him and he would not clean (out) without his discharge. The girls as G. calls them know that I know all about the affairs and the other night I talked pretty freely about matters with Miss Abby."  Much more about that and other topics.  Easy reading. Letter in very good condition.
