indiana-and-ohio-1865-new-albany-indiana-letter-to-youngsville-pennsylvania-missent-and-forwarded-from-youngstown-ohio INDIANA & OHIO: 1865 NEW ALBANY INDIANA LETTER TO PENNSYLVANIA MISSENT TO YOUNGSTOWN OHIO AND FORWARDED TO YOUNGSVILLE PENNSYLVANIA

Letter inside envelope is from New Albany, Indiana, and is addressed to Olds & Brother in Youngsville, Pennsylvania.  However, it ended up in Youngstown Ohio where the postal agent postmarked the cover and then wrote missent and fwd by hand on the envelope.  The letter is from M. P. Robinson, corner of Water and lower Fouth Streets and includes an order for five pumps and tubing.  The writer goes to lengths to request that the order be shipped by train or boat...whichever is cheapest.  Good reading.

mcclellan-air-force-base MCCLELLAN FIELD CALIFORNIA 1941 ARMY DAY PATRIOTIC COVER MISSENT TO PLAINVILLE MASSACHUSETTS

Lots to like about this cover.  Patriotic cachet cover for Army Day, April 7, 1941 mailed on that date from McCellan Air Force Base, California to Plainville Kansas.  Missent to Plainville Massachusetts (with Dead Post Office mark from that town).  Also, unusual "missent to Plainville, Mass." auxiliary mark across top of cover.  Someone wrote Kansas on the cover and assume it was forwarded there.  No additional marks on back.

GREENWICH CONNECTICUT 1851 STAMPLESS FOLDED LETTER TO STAFFORD NEW HAMPSHIRE WITH UNLISTED PAID IN A BOX

Stampless folded letter from Harriett Bacon to Jedediah Harris in Stafford,  New Hampshire, inquiring about funds due her from the estate of her father.  She notes that the person she retained in Stafford to collect her funds...Samuel McMaster...has left the area and will no longer be able to assist her.  There is a pencil notation on the side...possibly by Harris with her name and $300 next to it. Nice postal history item. Significant is the use of a boxed PAID. This postmark is only listed with a PAID 5 in a circle. Condition is very nice; well above similar items from this era.
