ALTON AND WATKINS NEW YORK, PLUS SOUTH NORWALK CONNECTICUT DEAD POST OFFICE POSTMARKS ON ONE 1888 COVER - POSTAL-HISTORY ALTAY AND WATKINS NEW YORK, PLUS SOUTH NORWALK CONNECTICUT DEAD POST OFFICE POSTMARKS ON ONE 1888 COVER

It's a triple header. Cover originated in Althay NY and was addressed to South Norwalk. Enroute, it received a Watkins postmark on the flap side and then it received a South Norwalk Connecticut mark when the cover was forwarded to New York City. This is a must unusual item for dead post office cover collectors.

Interesting to see how the paper on this cover has aged...sort of a mottled effect. Foote was a prominent attorney in Lawrence. Also believe he was a judge and a Civil War hero.
