Color postcard of Iceland showing an array of Icelandic stamps and the Coat of Arms. Postcard was published by Ottmar Zieher, publisher code 73, in the period 1905-1910.  Card is unused but has residue from mounts and ceases back upper and lower left.  Nice presentation from the front.

See scan. Recording to tonnage for tax purposes.  Tax stamp affixed lower left corner.  Newcastle upon Tyne custom house document.  Item is in poor condition.  Separated in the center and reinforced. Also top right corner is reinforced.  However, good historic early shippind document.  Note: It is possible this is the Jeanie Johnston a ship that carried many from Ireland to Canada during the Potato Famine and later traveled between Engand and New England. In researching the ship name, this information came to light with no other reference of a ship named Jeanie in the area at the time.  This is speculation, not confirmed.

Unused postcard in pristine condition. Archibald "Archie" Gunn was born October 11, 1863 in Taunton, Somersetshire, England  He received his earliest art training from his father, and at Tottenham College in Staffordshire. In 1878 he attended the Calderon Art Academy in London. In 1880, Gunn was commissioned to paint a portrait of Lord Beaconsfield, which was presented to Queen Victoria. In 1883, he designed posters and costumes for theatrical productions of Gilbert and Sullivan in London. He used the pen-name "Chicot" for some of his theatrical posters. In 1889, Gunn traveled to America; settled in Manhattan and quickly began his American career as a commercial artist.  In 1890 he became an editorial artist for The New York World newspaper, and also illustrated the magazine Truth. The greatest public renown for Gunn came from his posters, calendars, prints, and postcards of beautiful girls, which were fashionably displayed in homes throughout the nation at the turn of the century. Archie Gunn died on January 16, 1930.

WATERLOO NEW YORK 1896 COVER TO SHORTSVILLE NY WITH "MISSENT" MARK - POSTAL-HISTORY WATERLOO NEW YORK TO SHORTSVILLE NY 1896 COVER WITH MISSENT MARK

Interesting cover. Has September 28 Waterloo postmark next to stamp. Arrived at Shortsville the same day and was marked missent and returned. At center top of cover is a Waterloo receiver postmark for September 29.  Nice fast turnaround. Stamp is damaged. Missent mark and postmarks constitute the value.
