Hello and Welcome to MGJ Postal History

We are offering for sale a wide variety of covers—from stampless covers to First Day Covers, from the very old, to contemporary. While we primarily sell covers, you will also find stamps, other postal items and interesting ephemera for sale. We hope you enjoy the site and visit often. We welcome your comments.

I am a life member of the American Philatelic Society and am a member of the Society’s estate advisory service. I am also a member and volunteer at the Cardinal Spellman Philatelic Museum in Weston, Massachusetts. In addition, I am a licensed, bonded auctioneer in Massachusetts.

	NEW HAMPSHIRE: FRANKENSTEIN TRESTLE WHITE MOUNTAINS POSTCARD. RPO PMK. NICE EARLY POSTCARD WITH PORTLAND & SWANTON RAILROAD POST OFFICE POSTMARK.	$5.00
	NEW HAMPSHIRE: HANOVER 1830 CHAS. HADDOCK TO BOSWELL STEVENS STAMPLESS FOLDED LETTER This stampless folded letter is addressed to Boswell Stevens. A prominent member of the Pembroke, NH, community, he was a lawyer and one of the founding fathers of Pembroke Academy (still in operation today). He was a friend of, and corresponded with Daniel Webster. The sfl was sent by Charles B. Haddock. See bio below. Significant historic postal history item. No content in sfl. Charles Brickett Haddock was a New Hampshire educator, author, politician and civil servant. Fresh and clean cover with excellent, full Hanover postmark. Haddock's mother Abigail was a sister of Daniel Webster. Haddock graduated from Dartmouth College in 1816 and at Andover Seminary in 1819. He returned to Dartmouth, where he was professor of rhetoric and belles lettres from 1819 until 1838, when he became professor of intellectual philosophy and political economy until 1854. He was chargé d'affaires for the United States in Portugal from 1850 until 1854. Except for his time in Portugal, he served as a Congregationalist minister in Windsor, White River, Norwich, West Lebanon, and Quechee.[1] Thoroughly versed in public law, he represented Hanover[2] for four years as a Whig in the New Hampshire legislature. There he introduced and carried the present common-school system of the state, and was the first school commissioner under that system. He was a promoter of railroad construction in New Hampshire.	$100.00
	NEW HAMPSHIRE: HINSDALE 1841 MANUSCRIPT CANCEL STAMPLESS FOLDED LETTER TO PLYMPTON MASSACHUSETTS Clean stampless folded letter with sharp and full Hinsdale, New Hampshire, manuscript postmark. Ivory Soule writes to William Soule about family matters, especially his wife's illness. Additional information about family history was added, in pencil, in 1957 by a relative. Interesting that letter was sent FREE. Could not find any reference to Soule being a postmaster.	$25.00
	NEW HAMPSHIRE: INTERVALE 1906 HOTEL LANGDON POSTCARD. CLIMBING MT. WASHINGTON Early blue-tinted postcard in good condition . Writer says she is passing on climbing Mt. Washington because she has already done so twice. Wow!	$5.00
	NEW HAMPSHIRE: KEENE 1800S COVER TO BOSTON WITH RECEIVER AND CARRIER AUXILIARY MARKS Very clean cover with black Keene postmark and hand cancel of banknote stamp. On left side is a violet Boston receiver for May 24, same date as mailing. On back is a Boston carrier mark, also for May 24. Great postal service.	$10.00
