A September 1, 1836 Boston red postmark and PAID mark on this stampless note from M.L. Parker (signed by A. K. Hunt) to George Crosby in Augusta Maine once containing a check drawn on the Suffolk Bank in the amount of $389.03. In those days, drafts were written on any paper. In this case, it was at the top of the note and was cut off to be cashed by Crosby.  Condition quite good. Postmark is 208. PAID is 229 and script rate of 18 1/2 is 257.
