Extensive letter from Julia to "My much esteemed and endeared friend" Rev. Lyman Whiting. Whiting apparently wrote her a long letter of consolation at a recent loss. She is responding with "Ten thousand thanks for your last, kind soothing letter, it has done me a world of good." She is obviously in a delicate emotional state, but the letter from Whiting has helped to uplift her spirits and return to normal. She is now alone and waxes poetic: "When sad or borken hearted -- I set me down to gaze around on scenes and years departed." Excellent reading. Letter is in top condition. No rips or tears. Light but complete Derby high "t" with scroll postmark and 5 in double circle rate mark.
