A letter from Elisa Platt to Marcus Merwin in Milford. The opening of this letter borders on slapstick comedy as Elisa explains the delay in answering Merwin's letter. Easy to read and very funny. Elisa also displays a sense of humor, if not melancholy, in discussing her recent marriage: "...take it for granted they must have had some experience in the married life, wonder how they like it, as for my part if they call this a specimen of it, I have not as favorable opinion of it as I had before for its rather lonely at least. My husband appears to be rather of a dummy or mummy and an invisible object."  Quite a statement for a women to make in those times. She also talks about taking a two-day sleigh ride with her sister, Mr. Merwin's fall and bizarrely broken arm and a call to her for help. A letter with a lot of twists and turns. THERE ARE FIVE LETTERS IN THIS GROUP. IF YOU WANT THEM ALL, WE WILL PROVIDE A DISCOUNT PRICE.
