Nice full postmark. See scan of notice from theJohn L. Hadley, secretary of state, notifying Alonzo Thomas of Claremont that he has a commission as a Justice of the Peace, once he forwards the one dollar fee.

Alonzo Thomas (son of Zara Thomas and Elizabeth Rice) was born August 28, 1807 in Claremont, New Hampshire, and died December 19, 1890. He married Susan Smith on September 20, 1829. He was on the Town House reconstruction committee in Claremont. Thomas and Smith had a son, Charles Thomas born in Claremont about 1842.
