Year:
1845 stampless folded letter from R. F. Fletcher Company, Boston, to Isaac Reed & Co, Waldoboro Maine with a statement for groceries and insurance along with two personal charges. One of the charges involves a Captain Kopperholt. According to historic records, Kopperholt was the captain of a Danish ship engaged in the slave trade. Fletcher & Company was a wholesale dealer in West India goods and groceries. More research is needed to determine the relationship here. Clean letter with typical small tear where seal was broken.
