NEW HAVEN CONNECTICUT 1844 STAMPLESS FOLDED LETTER RE: BORAX DELIVERY BY SHIP

Year:

1844
Connecticut

Short letter from English & Mix, New Haven hardware merchants, to Seth Low & Co., New York. (Low was Mayor of New York at one time.) Letter reads: "Will you ship for us on bioard steamer up the Connecticut River to be left at Middletown one case of same quality of Borax as we have had of you and forward us by mail at price as before and we will remit the money or shall be in your city in the course of ten days and will settly for there and may want more at that time." Condition very good with usual tiny tear where seal was broken (does not affect text). Letter is easy to read.
